Sails for a Contender may be bought from any loft. However with Wavelength's domination of many World, European and National regattas and open meetings over the last few years, including Andrea Bonezzi with his 8 World championship wins using a standard Wavelength Dacron sail, and now Mark Bulka and Soren are doing the same. Sails from the Wavelength loft are probably the most numerous within the fleet and will be found second hand in good condition. Wavelengths are considered to be good all rounder sails.

North Sails were popular in the early 1990s and, following a period of development with Tim Holden in the mid 2000s have a radial cut sail built using the low stretch aramid Kevlar (the CM-3). This sail appears to perform well in most conditions and was used to win both the 2005 UK Nationals and Inland Championships. The North sail have more recently the Won 2011/12 Nationals in the hands of Ben Grane using a mix of their Dacron/Laminate sails. Very competitive across the range with short leach option available.

Lennon sails have become well known in high performance craft in short period and have also designed a successful Laminate Contenders sail. This sail is available from Hartleys and has been competitive from the start. Good results are expected in the near future.
